There's nothing like a round of golf on a beautiful green to cure the workday blues. However, not much can ruin the experience more quickly than a bad game! Whether you're serious about finding a way to take your game to the next level every day, or whether you're just a weekend warrior, custom golf clubs might be right for you.
Many golfers are wary about buying custom clubs because they're just not sure if they need them. After all, millions of golfers get by just fine without them. The real question is, do they? When you're out on the links take a look around you. You'll see that everyone is a different size and shape. Everyone has different tendencies. Custom clubs take all of those things into account. You cannot have the perfect game without your equipment being totally built for you personally. If you're serious about taking your game to the next level, custom golf clubs should at least be explored.
It's important to know the difference between fitted and custom. They are not the same! Fitted clubs are mass produced and bought from a manufacturer. They are sold to thousands of people. Once you buy them they are slightly altered to fit your body frame and swing. The shaft length is changed by bending the head to get the correct lie angle. This doesn't increase the shaft length or, more importantly, change the shaft flex of the club. It's really a superficial fix to clubs that are built for the average person. If you're not the average person, you are pretty much out of luck. Custom ones are created specifically for you. They take into consideration everything about your swing and your body. The shaft is designed for your height. The grips suit your hand size and the head is built to suit your abilities. Everything about them is designed to improve your game.
Just how do custom clubs knock shots off your game? Well, as your learn to play golf or as you progress in your game, improperly fitted golf clubs can really encourage you to develop bad habits. You will unconsciously try to make up for the clubs inabilities. Your body will reposition and your technique will suffer the consequences. Custom fitted clubs eliminate the guessing factor. The club does its work so that you can do yours. That's why even beginners benefit greatly by having custom clubs.
Although custom clubs are a bit more expensive than other clubs, they are well worth it. If you can't afford to get an entire set of custom clubs right away, at least look into investing in a few. Start small and build your way up. You'll notice a difference immediately. Pretty soon unwinding at the golf course won't be an exercise in frustration. Your great game will leave you relaxed and ready to tackle another hard week!
